Scholarships

Every year CRYSC is committed to making soccer accessible for families across the Front Range. Below you will see the new process for applying for Financial Aid from the club directly as well as external scholarship opportunities. Once the deadline has passed for your particular age group/program, there will be no way to apply for Financial Aid, because this is an automatic system. All of CRYSC scholarships are need-based. There will be no Financial Aid provided for Summer Camps; discounts for these programs will be provided at the Camp Directors discretion.

All Financial Aid communication should go to [email protected].

Anyone who joins the club mid-season and is interested in Financial Aid will need to reach out directly to the email above. We can’t guarantee that players who join mid-season will receive Financial Aid due to budget limitations.

Process

  • Step One: If you have not done so already, all interested applicants must first complete the Competitive Intent to Play Registration through PlayMetrics. Click here to go to the Register Page and select your region.
  • Step Two: Once the Competitive Intent to Play registration has been completed, individuals are then able to apply for the scholarship. Families will not receive any information about their scholarship amount until after the scholarship closes.
  • Step Three: In your Player Metrics account, click ‘Club Programs’ and select the ‘Financial Aid’ tab at the top. Click the blue ‘Request Financial Aid’ button, fill out the questions for your player and submit the form. The club will be notified once it has been submitted.
  • Step Four: The club will notify you via PlayMetrics if your player has received financial aid for the season and apply the scholarship in PlayMetrics for you to register with the active scholarship.

*If the Payment Plan Information form is never received, the player will NOT be placed on a roster.*

Types of Internal Scholarships

Club Scholarships

If you are interested in Financial Aid, the first step is to apply for a Club Scholarship. All players must first apply for a Club Scholarship, including all Recreational and Competitive players of all ages. This is the default scholarship offered to all qualifying families based on family income levels.

Zarlengo and Dr. Bob Contiguglia Scholarships

These two scholarships will be by invitation only. The invitations will come from the Financial Aid Department. Players must apply for Financial Aid through the process described in the Recreational and Competitive menus.

Zarlengo scholarships are for Latino players only, boys and girls.

Dr. Bob Contiguglia Scholarship is for four elite-level players, two boys and two girls each year.

If you have recommendations for potential applicants, please send an email to [email protected] with the player’s name, your contact information, and a brief explanation of why you think they qualify. Regardless of their qualifications, all potential candidates must apply for Financial Aid through the general process by the deadline in order to receive an invitation to apply for Zarlengo or Dr. Bob Contiguglia scholarships.

Types of External Scholarships

Chance Sports

Chance Sports is a scholarship organization that provides assistance to Colorado youth from families with financial need, to access elite sports programs and to learn leadership and team-building skills that will benefit them on and off the athletic field. Chance Sports is proud to partner with Colorado Rapids Youth Soccer Clubs in support of their athletes.

Allan James Memorial Scholarship

In 2018, the Allan James Memorial Scholarship was announced, in which two scholarships are given to a female and male soccer player in memory of Allan James, with the inaugural recipients receiving the scholarship at the CSA Awards Banquet in January 2019.

As a result of the success of the golf tournament, other fundraising and generous donations, beginning in 2023, 2 female and 2 male soccer players will receive scholarships.

Nick J LoRusso Memorial Scholarship

The Nick J. LoRusso “I Know a Guy” Memorial Scholarship Fund is a Colorado based, family run, nonprofit corporation which provides funding to Colorado soccer players of all ages and development.  The fund was created in 2013 following the passing of Nick J. LoRusso, who was an avid supporter of Colorado soccer.

The application process: ANY individual can apply on behalf of ANY player in need.
Scholarship deadlines are February 15th and August 15th of each year. Award will be funded 30 days thereafter.

Sports Matter

As youth sports start back up, many kids may not return to play because of costs. The DICK’S Sporting Goods Foundation is proud to announce a $5,000,000 Sports Matter grant to Every Kid Sports, a 501(c)3 nonprofit, to provide income-restricted families financial assistance to cover registration fees and help ensure every kid has a chance to play. This scholarship is for recreational players only.
