CRYSC to Receive Target Grant
Posted by: Curtis Gardner l CRYSC Outreach Director
Since the fall of 2012, the CRYSC Outreach Department has delivered after-school soccer programming in schools with high rates of Free and Reduced Lunch. This program has been supported by the U.S. Soccer Foundation, the Colorado Health Foundation and, the Swallow Charitable Foundation. In addition to current support, the Outreach Department is excited to announce that Target will be supporting Rapids After-School programming. This year through a series of school-based grants Target will help Rapids Youth Soccer reach need-based kids throughout Denver. In Target’s own words, “part of being a good neighbor is supporting communities through local giving.” As a commitment to this mantra, Target allocated $1,000 in funding to each of their stores and distribution centers around the country, soliciting grants from a range of community partners that focus on soccer programming. After this contribution, Rapids Youth Soccer will be able to support a larger community of kids and schools.
CRYSC Outreach programming was awarded $27,000 from local Target stores to support Outreach programming across the Front Range. The Outreach Department has accepted these funds as they support the 2,200 underserved youth throughout the front range every year.
While this amount of funding is significant, there is still more to be done for our kids and our community. We hope you will pause and celebrate this momentary victory with us before we get back to work providing quality soccer programming to some of Colorado’s most underserved youth.
