Posted by: Jordan Collins | Director of Marketing & Communications
Rapids Youth Soccer welcomes Brian Sheehan to the Zone 1 staff as the 8U-10U Recreational Director for the Central Branch. Brian is a Denver native who played youth soccer for both Denver Soccer Club and Colorado Rush, winning several state championships with each (1998, 2002, 2003). Additionally, Brian went to Mullen High School and was a member of the 2003 state finalist team. He was named CHSAA 4A all-state player of the year before playing collegiately at the University of Notre Dame.
Brian has spent most of his professional life in the field of education. Trained by the Stanley British Primary Teacher Preparation Program and Expeditionary Learning, Brian has put his MA in educational psychology (UC Denver) and Colorado K-6 teaching license to good use in Denver’s urban schools. While working as a teacher and assistant principal, Brian continued to feed his soccer passion through coaching. Brian comes to Rapids with ten years of coaching experience. He has proudly mentored players of all ability levels from 8U to 18U to greater levels of mastery, and continues to find joy in playing the beautiful game with the Colorado Rovers.
“I love working with kids! Beyond this, I believe the sport of soccer offers a unique and joyful context to nurture confidence, friendships, and character. As a Denver native, I am incredibly proud of the opportunity to make my local community a bit more wholesome by serving young people through the Rapids Youth Soccer Club.” –Brian Sheehan
