Congratulations to Maddy Quantz on winning the CRYSC + UCHealth Player of the Month award for June 2021!

Quantz-blog

Maddy plays with the Rapids 07G Burgundy Castle Rock team as a midfielder and works with CRYSC players under the age of 6 as a volunteer Soccer Start coach. She truly loves the game and has been described by CRYSC coaching staff as “an outstanding young lady that represents Rapids Youth Soccer and its values, inside and outside the Club.” Maddy embodies the Club’s “Heart Behind the Crest” purpose and is always looking to help out her teammates and classmates however she can. Win or lose, Maddy will be there as a reliable teammate, friend, and leader.

This July, Maddy will be presented with a plaque and gift card to acknowledge her accomplishment, so watch the CRYSC social pages for more updates.

We spoke with Maddy to learn a bit more about her and see what drives her game. Check out the full interview below!

What influence has soccer had in your life?

Soccer has helped me gain the confidence to be a leader and set an example for my teammates. It has helped my collaborative and social skills, as well as my communication both on and off the field. It has shown me the true meaning of the word team and how important it is to work together. I have learned the importance of winning and losing as a team and individually.

Why do you believe that you were nominated for this award?

I believe I was nominated because I show up on time every single game and practice ready to work hard and give 100%. I also think it’s because I work hard on and off of the field.

What do you enjoy most about playing for Colorado Rapids Youth Soccer Club?

I really like playing the game. I like to see how I grow throughout seasons both physically and mentally. I also like all of the coaches and players.

What soccer accomplishment are you most proud of?

I am most proud of assisting a goal that won a game for us in the last 2 minutes of the game.

What academic achievement are you most proud of?

I am most proud of winning the 2020 school spelling bee and also winning the Legacy Award in 2019, which was only given to one student.

How do you think your teammates would describe you?

They would say I am kind, always thinking of others, a leader, and a good communicator.

What is something that shows your exemplary character, commitment to sportsmanship, community involvement, etc..?

A year ago I told my mom that I wanted to volunteer for Rapids Youth Soccer. She reached out to Rapids and I started volunteer coaching in July 2020 and have been coaching 6U Soccer Start ever since. I like watching the kids grow from season to season.

What’s your favorite soccer player and team?

My favorite team is the U.S. Women’s National Team.

What studies do you hope to pursue in the near future?

I want to go to CU Boulder and obtain a degree in Psychology. I want to continue coaching and playing for Rapids.

Who inspires you and why? This can be someone famous or someone you know personally!

My mom. She always tells me to keep going and try my best. She perseveres, which inspires me to do the same. There is no challenge too big.

What else do you enjoy outside of playing for CRYSC?

I really like hanging out with friends, coaching, reading, camping, and paddle boarding.

Since 2018, CRYSC and UCHealth + CU Orthopedics and Sports Medicine have worked together in an effort to grow the safety and health resources that are available for Rapids Youth players and members.

As our partnership strengthens with UCHealth, we want to work together to highlight the amazing players within the Colorado Rapids Youth Soccer Club with a monthly ‘Player of the Month’. Check out the criteria and nominate any players that deserve to be highlighted by UCHealth and CRYSC on the Player of the Month page.
