PLAYER SPOTLIGHT: QUINLIN COLE
Quinlin’s Path: Leadership, Loyalty, and Love for the Game
From her first kicks at age three to her current role on the Rapids North 07/08G ECNL RL and Unified teams, Quinlin’s journey through soccer has been one of steady growth, strong character, and unshakable passion. Rooted in family, fueled by team culture, and elevated by opportunity, her story is as much about who she is off the field as what she brings on it.
Early Passion Sparked by Family
Quinlin’s love for soccer started early, influenced by her parents, both former players. “I got into soccer around the age of three because both my parents played,” she says. “I was also interested in playing from the start.”
That passion quickly turned into dedication when she joined the Rapids Youth Soccer Club at just seven years old. “Being a part of this club means so much to me,” she says. “I’ve been here since before we went competitive. Everyone, from teammates to coaches and staff, has become like family.”
Climbing the Ranks with Commitment
Her rise through the Rapids system culminated in a spot on the North 07/08G ECNL RL team, where she has spent the last two seasons competing at one of the highest levels in youth soccer.
“My journey has been about always pushing for the best,” Quinlin says. “The ECNL RL side has been amazing. I love the competitiveness it brings.”
Her parents have watched her evolution firsthand. “Early on, she showed natural athleticism,” they explain. “But now it’s her maturity, her ability to read the game, and her leadership that define her. She’s gritty, focused, and constantly looking to grow.”
A New Chapter: The Unified Team
Earlier this year, Quinlin added another milestone to her resume by earning a spot on the Rapids Unified team. This program brings together players with and without intellectual disabilities to compete in an inclusive, MLS-affiliated environment.
“I found out a few hours after tryouts,” she recalls. “Coach Molly called and offered me a spot. I was so happy and thankful.”
But for Quinlin, the opportunity goes beyond just making a team. “Being on the Unified team means so much more,” she says. “It’s about expanding the game so everyone can play, building relationships, and being part of something you love. It has already deepened my appreciation for soccer.”
Her parents saw the fit immediately. “This program is about more than sport. It’s about community and shared joy,” they say. “Quinlin embodies that. She connects with others easily and leads by example.”
Leadership On and Off the Field
Over the years, Quinlin has become a player her teammates can count on both during games and in everyday moments.
“She leads without needing the spotlight,” her parents explain. “She lifts others up, holds herself accountable, and shows maturity well beyond her age.”
Quinlin agrees that the relationships she’s built have been among the most rewarding aspects of her soccer career. “I’ve played with my teammate Baylee Hoskins for ten years,” she says. “She’s become my closest friend. But really, all of my teammates are close. The stronger we are off the field, the better we are on it.”
The Road Ahead
As she heads into her final year of club soccer before college, Quinlin has clear goals. “I want both teams, ECNL RL and Unified, to be cohesive and successful. I’d love to be noticed at showcases, win lots of games, and most importantly, have fun.”
Growth, for her, is about pushing boundaries. “I want to get out of my comfort zone and keep improving. That’s the only way to become better.”
And as someone younger players now look up to, she’s embracing the chance to lead by example. “When I was little, I looked up to the older girls. Now I want to shape the path for those coming next.”
More Than an Athlete
Off the field, Quinlin enjoys hiking, bowling, and spending time with friends. “I also love a good movie night,” she adds. Her biggest role models remain her parents. “They’ve always been there, supporting me, driving me, helping with school and life. They know when to push and when to be there for me.”
In Quinlin, the Rapids Youth Soccer Club has more than a talented defender. They have a loyal teammate, a humble leader, and a player who lives out the best values of the game. As she steps into new roles and new stages, one thing is clear. Her impact will stretch far beyond the scoreboard.
