The Colorado Rapids Youth Soccer Club has opportunities for CRYSC members and members of the community to make a positive impact on our youth teams. Positions are available to assist in the technical, administrative, and travel pieces required for our players to have a memorable sports experience. Volunteers play a crucial role in the development of our players as athletes and as people. How To Support Your Child’s Team

Volunteer Head Coach

The team Assistant Coach (Volunteer) will help support the Head Coach and promote an atmosphere of fun, friendship, and goodwill for each team.

Vision:

Create a culture within our program by leading the positive improvement of all aspects of culture from camaraderie between teammates to respect shown by parents on the sidelines.

Core Objectives:

  1. Foster an environment of respect for referees, players, coaches, and spectators of the opposing team through words of encouragement and support.
  2. Cooperate with these standards before, during, and after each game or practice to make Rapids Youth Soccer more enjoyable for everyone.
  3. Assist success of the team

Specific Responsibilities Include:

  • Unite the players through team bonding activities.
  • Set up team bonding events for the team to participate in together (meals after games, team parties, etc.)
  • Mold sideline behavior through positive action and attention.
  • Applaud superior play, effort, and sportsmanship by players on both teams.
  • Support coaches and managers consistently regardless of the results on the field.
  • Remain at least two yards from the playing field so our players have room to play and enjoy the game.
  • Work with team and think of creative ways to raise funds to help reduce the cost to players for team travel and tournament expenses.

 

Rapids Youth Soccer Zero Tolerance Bullying Policy

Rapids Youth Soccer is committed to providing players a fun, positive, and secure environment in which to learn and enjoy the game of soccer. We do not tolerate bullying at any practice, game or other CRYSC sanctioned events. We will promote a telling atmosphere. This means anyone who knows that bullying is taking place is expected to report the incident. Players and parents should be assured they will be supported when bullying is reported.

  • Parents should report bullying to the Coach, Team Manager, or Culture Keeper.
  • In all cases of reported bullying, parents of the player who was bullied shall be informed immediately and may be asked to meet with the respective team coach and/ or Director of Coaching to discuss.
  • The negative behavior must be investigated and the bullying stopped immediately.

Action Point: Report and address all cases of bullying.

Volunteer Assistant Coach

The team Assistant Coach (Volunteer) will help support the Head Coach and promote an atmosphere of fun, friendship, and goodwill for each team.

Vision:

Facilitate a player-centered training and game-day experience that prioritizes development and enjoyment, makes the game accessible to all players and helps players learn key life skills.

Core Objectives:

  1. Support Head Coach in coaching responsibilities including running sessions and games, managing team logistics, parent communication, player development.
  2. Foster an environment of respect for game facilitators/referees, players, coaches, and spectators of the opposing team through words of encouragement and support.
  3. Assist success of the team

Specific Responsibilities Include:

  • Stepping in as Head Coach if Head Coach cannot attend a training session or game.
  • Helping keep time during games and manage substitutes.
  • Mold sideline behavior through positive action and attention.
  • Applaud superior play, effort, and positive sporting conduct by players on both teams.
  • Communicate with parents about events such as practices and games or other team bonding activities
  • Understand game day rules and help enforce safe play for all players

 

Rapids Youth Soccer Zero Tolerance Bullying Policy

Team Manager

The role of a Team Manager is primarily to keep teams organized and informed. Most importantly, Team Managers ensure valuable information is communicated to the families within their team.

Vision:

Create open communication within our program by being a point of contact for our families and deliver clear and concise information from the Club.

Core Objectives:

  1. Support coaches, directors and administrative staff with portraying club communication effectively and efficiently.
  2. Cooperate with these standards before, during, and after each game or practice to make Rapids Youth Soccer more enjoyable for everyone.
  3. Assist success of the team in any way.

Specific responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Act as the team contact in CSA.
  • Communicate any practice, game, or tournament changes to the team.
  • Communicate with coach on who is responsible for the Team Binder.
  • Report Home Game scores to CSA.
  • Maintain communication with the coach, club directors, and admin staff.
  • Oversee reschedules for the team in conjunction with the Rapids administrative staff using Team Connect.
  • Remind parents and players to update their attendance in Team Connect.
  • Take ownership of any other items that can distract the coach from his or her job.
  • Provide College Advisory information for high school teams.
  • Work in conjunction with the team Culture Keeper to assist in developing a cohesive team culture.

Travel Coordinator

The team Travel Coordinator (Volunteer) will help support the Head Coach, Team Manager and Team Culture Keeper with all travel needs and will promote an atmosphere of fun, friendship, and goodwill for each team.

Vision:

Create a culture within our program by leading the positive improvement of all aspects of culture from camaraderie between teammates to respect shown by parents on the sidelines.

Core Objectives:

  1. Support Head Coach, Team Manager and Culture Keeper with team travel responsibilities including tournament travel planning, player travel management, and tournament travel activities.
  2. Foster an environment of respect for game facilitators/referees, players, coaches, and spectators of the opposing team through words of encouragement and support.
  3. Assist the success of their team while traveling.

Specific Responsibilities Include:

  • Plan flights, buses, rental cars and hotels for the team.
  • Coordinate drivers for rental cars.
  • Assist with player management – getting to fields on time, meals, curfews, etc.
  • Track players and families travel plans using an excel spreadsheet.
  • Provide details to the team about the trip including hotels, flights, etc.
  • Help organize meals and food for the trip.
  • Remind families of upcoming deadlines regarding tournament information.

Help with tournament check-in if the Manager cannot do it.

Team Treasurer

The Team Treasurer facilitates a player-centered training and game-day experience that prioritizes development and enjoyment making the game accessible to all players and helps players learn key life skills.

Vision:

The Team Treasurer is an important role that ensures that the team’s funds are managed appropriately and accurately. The Team Treasurer is a volunteer parent who is not the coach or assistant coach of the team. This person is responsible for handling the money for the team account and keeping track of individual player balances. This includes collecting and disbursing funds for team expenses such as tournaments, field rental, coaching expenses, etc. Communication with the families about their deposits, receipts and expenses is also required as a Team Treasurer.

Core Objectives:

  1. Along with the team coach and team manager, create a team budget so that all families and team members are aware of the soccer expenses related to team games, tournaments and activities.
  2. Collect funds from families, following club policies, so that money is available to pay for team expenses as needed.
  3. Pay for team expenses (such as tournament registration fees) as needed.
  4. Communicate with families on a regular basis about player balances.

Specific Responsibilities Include:

  • Communicate with the coach and team manager regarding all anticipated activities, tournaments, etc of the team.
  • Work with the team manager and/or team travel coordinator to provide necessary payments.
  • Deposit and maintain a record of all money contributed by families to the team account.
  • Deposit and maintain a record of all fundraising money received for players on the team.
  • Communicate player balances on a monthly basis to team member families.
  • Follow the policies as set forth in the Team Treasurer Manual.

Board of Directors

The board’s role is to work with the Executive Director and staff to develop and implement a long-term strategic plan for the club.  The board utilizes working groups as vehicles to pursue the club’s near term and long term strategic priorities.  Current working groups include communication, facilities, the youth club foundation, professional development, data analytics and IT, and membership engagement.
