Congrats to Edin Karasalihovic on winning our May 2024 UCHealth Player of the Month award!
Edin plays central defensive midfield for our Rapids Central Burgundy I team and was an integral part of their undefeated season this spring. His coaches and teammates know him as a reliable teammate and a great listener who continues to grow his game through discipline and careful observation of his coach’s instruction. Off the field, Edin excels in school and is an outstanding student. This year, he was nominated as a school scholar in his district. He’s always eager to help his teachers and classmates in any way he can.
In his free time, when he’s not playing soccer with CRYSC, Edin enjoys being active outdoors. He loves to swim, camp, rollerblade, and ride his bike. In his downtime, he is an avid collector of tech decks and Pokémon cards.
This June, Edin will be presented with a plaque and a gift card to acknowledge his achievements. We spoke with Edin to learn a bit more about him. Check out the full interview below!
What influence has soccer had in your life?
I learned how to develop a healthy lifestyle and discipline.
Why do you believe that you were nominated for this award?
By working hard and standing out as a team player.
What do you enjoy most about playing for Colorado Rapids Youth Soccer Club?
Being able to play soccer for my hometown club. Meeting new people/teammates. Building friendship bonds.
What soccer accomplishment are you most proud of?
Helping the team go undefeated during the season.
What academic achievement are you most proud of?
Being recognized as a top student in the district and awarded an academic medal by Mayor Mike Coffman.
How do you think your teammates would describe you?
Hard-working, nice, dependable, team player, and fun to be around.
What is something that shows your exemplary character, commitment to sportsmanship, community involvement, etc..?
My teachers recognize my academic abilities and leadership skills by helping tutor classmates.
What’s your favorite soccer player and team?
Cristiano Ronaldo / Real Madrid
What do you hope to pursue in the near future?
Become a professional soccer player.
Who inspires you and why? This can be someone famous or someone you know personally!

What else do you enjoy outside of playing for CRYSC?
I enjoy spending time with friends and family. I love being outdoors, camping, swimming, and bike riding. I also enjoy dancing and singing karaoke.
Since 2018, CRYSC and UCHealth + CU Orthopedics and Sports Medicine have worked together in an effort to grow the safety and health resources that are available for Rapids Youth players and members.
